Digital Creation, Project Three, Blog Six

I have continued to look at lighting, materials and composition for my model(s).
Here I was trying to illuminate my model from the inside to make it seem like a building in the night time.   The light didn't quite act how I wanted it to though, as I wanted the light to glow out the extruded windows.

Here I looked at a detail shot trying to achieve the same thing with lighting.

This is the first composition shot of all three models. I looked at columns versus buildings, but this looks awful.

Looking at material, using glass and marble which directly relate to my precedents.

Trying a gloomy sky backdrop. Still can't get the light to illuminate out.

Replaced glass with concrete to see if I could get a better lighting effect. This didn't work.

Here I tried volume lighting.

I was using a direct ray light so this didn't really achieve what I want but this haziness is what I want.

This shot looks quite cool but not really what I was out to achieve.

This is a half complete render, using a volume effect with an omni light. I didn't put the light in the right place, but it took so long to render. I can imagine this will work when placed inside my model but the intensity needs to be turned down considerably.
